What a week we have had at the Web 2.0 Expo. This was Zimki’s first major show and exhibition in the United States, and where better to start than the Bay area in San Francisco?!
Web 2.0 Expo is an annual gathering of technical, design, marketing, and business professionals who are building the next generation web. With its combination of exhibition space for vendors and a engaging conference and workshop track, the show managed to attract just under 10,000 people in registrations.
This was a great setting for the Zimki crew, because it provided our largest audience to date to evangelise the Zimki message to and how to help our fellow developers to avoid shaving Yaks!
We performed what seemed to be continuous demos of Zimki to responsive conference attendees and even some other exhibitors. The feedback was remarkably positive about Zimki and people were asking really good questions about the portal and the environment. There was also a lot of great feedback about our plan to establish our utility computing grid previous blog post
Paying homage to the new Spiderman film due out shortly, we debuted the new and improved Black Zimki ‘Pre-Shaved Yaks’ t-shirt at the show.

These went down a storm and we quickly run out of them by the second day. But fear not! For those that missed out, there will be another opportunity to capture one of these super cool shirts in July 07 at OSCON in Portland, Oregon.
Zimki Zims.
We also had a really cool bag insert for the show, our very own Zimki Zims.

10,000 of them in each bag to be exact. These represented the top prize of 10,000GBP we are offering in our business competition and were a great reminder for people. Don’t try and spend them though!
