At Zimki we kinda like the world. We like living in it and we like its mostly comfortable temperatures. However, we often need to fly all over the place to tell people about the things we are doing, which is why we always offset the carbon that we generate from air travel.
We’ve put this quick site together for attendees of ETech 2007 to say where they are flying from so we can calculate carbon emissions. We are a small company but as a gesture we thought that we might try to help out the world a little bit by offsetting 5,000USD of carbon emitted by the other attendees of ETech.
We hope that most attendees are already offsetting the carbon cost of their flights, and if not we’d like to think that they might considering doing so for future travel.
The Zimki Carbon Offsetter was written and released in about 15 minutes with Google's Maps API and a JavaScript backend written in Zimki. We didn’t build authentication into the Carbon Map, we hope and trust that people will respect this.
